Kingsbridge is celebrating the 800th anniversary of the town being granted a charter to hold a market by the Abbot of Buckfast. There will be a market on the Town Square where stallholders will be selling honey, jams and chutneys, jewellery and showcasing traditional crafts such as woodturning and spinning.
There will be a historic carousel, medieval musicians and an 'Imaginarium' in a circus tent on the Town Square. In the Market Hall, there will be a Bayeaux tapestry for children to complete, and a storyteller. Stroll further up the town, stopping to browse the shops, and find talks on the history of the town and a display of birds of prey in the gardens of the Cookworthy Museum.
Later on in the day there will be padddleboard jousting, a medieval banquet and the opportunity to put some local celebrities in the stocks!
